Dan is an accredited real estate professional, holds a CRS designation and has earned multiple recognitions from the local REALTOR association during his 30+ years in the real estate industry. Dan began his career as an agent for a large local real estate brokerage before he founded his own brokerage firm with a partner.
After a very successful time in business Lida joined Dan and they founded "Fargo Homes Buyer Agency" to serve buyers only. His passion for housing combined with his "helping art" make him a perfect advisor for home buyers.
Dan is a Fargo native and always up to date on the greater Fargo-Moorhead area developments. He is engaged in a number of service organizations, clubs and an active member of his parish. He has visited all schools and neighborhoods for best knowledge to share with our clients. For a number of years Dan and Lida have organized "First time home buyer" education classes.

Born and raised near Düsseldorf, Germany, Dirk Ockhardt, experienced a true U.S. Midwestern life for the first time in 1996. He spent one year as a foreign exchange student with a host family in Barnesville, MN. Since then he has made many trips back to the area and other parts of the United States before serving as a Private First Class in the German Air Force stationed for 12 months in Happy Valley Goose Bay, Canada. In 2000 he started his sales career with Dresdner Bank in Essen, Germany and earned an associate degree in banking, with aspirations of continuing in an MBA program.
But things changed for Dirk. While working in Kassel, Germany for an art dealer at Documenta 10, the world’s largest contemporary art show during the summer of
2002, Dirk became inspired by the world of art. He enrolled in art history classes and worked as the assistant director for the same art dealer at his gallery in Düsseldorf for several years. During this time, Dirk became well traveled while working art fairs in Bologna, Paris, Moscow, New York City and Cologne. His passion for art allowed him to meet many interesting people from different cultures while mastering his skill in sales. His entrepreneurial spirit moved him to open his own art gallery, becoming one of the youngest ever art dealers in Germany. This exciting new career venue allowed Dirk the opportunity to business ownership, marketing his artists, and connecting buyers and sellers with the very special product of “art.” After three successful years of operation, Dirk returned to school to earn a law degree at 550-year old Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-University in Greifswald, Germany, located north of Berlin on the Baltic Sea.
After graduating with a degree in economic law and a major in contract law he returned to the Midwest in 2009 to raise a family and continue his sales career. Dirk’s professional passion lays in direct sales along with gaining energy from working with people. He saw a great opportunity in the combination of consulting, financing, and legal elements, afforded by the vocation of real estate sales. Furthermore, real estate includes elements of architecture meeting his aptitude for esthetics and design.
As an owner and operating broker of his real estate firm he provides together with his specialized associates an individual advisory service. Dirk uses his enthusiasm, knowledge and skills to serve his clients—both in marketing and selling clients’ properties and assisting and guiding buyers in purchasing the perfect real property for them. ■

For the City of Fargo Dirk Ockhardt serves on the Historic Preservation Commission which works to preserve and protect the city's historic properties because of their educational, cultural, historical and economic value. Dirk also serves his community as an active member on a number of boards and he is a founding member of the neighborhood activities in SoMA Fargo – downtown. He believes that Real Estate is Personal and has formed a group of real estate experts who transfer his service approach and high standards of service to make the difference in real estate sales. ■
